One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "THOMAS & BRO," Huntingdon, PA origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, brush-decorated with a floral motif with blossom composed with graduated vertical strokes. Provenance: Estate of author and historian, Nancy Shedd, Petersburg, PA. A 2 1/2" flake to rim on reverse. A tiny rim nick. A base chip. Some unglazed in-the-firing contact marks, primarily to base. A recessed spot to base on front. H 8 7/8".
