Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1865-1867, cylindrical jar with tall collar, tooled shoulder, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Rim chips. Inner rim for lid with minor nicks and a glazed-over chip. A small in-the-firing iron ping to front. H 11 1/2".
