Two Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, R.T. Williams, New Geneva, PA, circa 1880, two cylindrical jars with tooled shoulders, semi-rounded rims, and applied lug handles, one with freehand decoration, featuring the stenciled maker's mark, "R.T. WILLIAMS. / NEW GENEVA, PA.," paired with a five-gallon jar with freehand decoration, attributed to Williams. Some light fry to signed jar, a long, tight spider crack extending from base to right side of jar, a 1 1/2" chipped area to one handle, a small chip to opposite handle, and a 9" Y-shaped crack ascending from base on reverse. Unsigned jar with light fry to cobalt, a small chip to end of one handle, and an in-the-firing stone ping to underside. H (of signed jar) 15 3/4".
