Rare One-Gallon White-Slip-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Inscribed "G.N. Fulton," Alleghany County, VA, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, brush-decorated in rarely-seen whitish slip with tulip motifs, rows of swags, and the signature, "G.N. Fulton." Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A faint line on underside, forming a long, tight horizontal line at bottom edge of jar. A small chip and minor nick to interior of rim. A small in-the-firing stone ping to side of jar. H 9 3/4".
