Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1865, large-sized, tapered canning jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, decorated with three wavy freehand stripes below a straight freehand stripe. Two unusual piercings at rim, original to the jar, to aid in the sealing of a canning lid. Excellent condition with a minor chip and nick to interior of rim and some light staining. H 9 3/8".
