Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Milkpans, Philadelphia, PA and Baltimore, MD origin, second quarter 19th century, one decorated on the front and reverse with leafy stems flanking a central fan-shaped flower, further decorated with cobalt highlights to the handle terminals and dashes of cobalt below each handle, attributed to Henry Harrison Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1835; the other decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed swag and hanging flower design along with swag decoration below each handle and cobalt highlights to handle terminals, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1845. Remmey example with wear to cobalt, handles, and rim, as well as two small chips and a minor nick to interior of rim. Baltimore example with rim and spout chips, a 1 1/2" salt glob to right of spout, a minor nick to underside at edge, and a tiny, glazed-over base chip on reverse. Dimensions (of Remmey milkpan): 6 1/2" x 11 1/2" ; Dimensions (of Baltimore example) 4 3/4" x 13 1/4".
