Fine Stoneware Inkstand with Incised and Applied Decoration, Westerwald, Germany origin, 18th or 19th century, slab-built form with original removeable well and sander; decorated on the reverse with molded and applied busts flanking a flowering vase. Additional flowering vase motifs to left and right of inkwell. Front with molded and applied crests depicting a cross and the initials, "IHS," flanking a central design of a flowering urn. Incised triangular decoration emanating from openings in top. Cobalt highlights throughout. Inkstand with edge chips. Minor chipping to base of sander. Dimensions: 5 1/2" x 3" x 1 1/2".
