Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1855, ovoid pitcher with tooled midsection and tall collar with pronounced rim molding, decorated on the front with a slip-trailed foliate spray accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Staining to surface. A 1 1/2" hairline to spout. Two tiny nicks to base of rim molding. A 5" horizontal, in-the-firing surface line at base. H 13".
