Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1860, semi-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent color. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a small in-the-firing ping near base and some minor staining. H 13 3/4".
