Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and tooling to midsection and shoulder, the front decorated with a large brushed and slip-trailed design of a stem bearing two large tulip blossoms, leaves, and a bud. Slip-trailed with an underscored "2" below. Excellent condition with staining and tackiness to surface, a small in-the-firing contact mark to side of jar, two tiny rim nicks, and two nicks and light wear to inner rim for lid. H 12 1/2".
