Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "C.L. WILLIAMS & Co. / SUCCESSORS/ TO / R.T. WILLIAMS, / MANUFACTURERS / OF STONE WARE. / NEW GENEVA, PA," circa 1890, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring desirable, extensive C.L. Williams maker's stenciling. Freehand stripes to shoulder and base. Freehand "3" with flourishes at base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Staining to surface. A thin 3 1/2" crack on underside, forming a 1 7/8" Y on reverse. Minor traces of old blue paint to rim. A 1" flake to end of one handle and a 3/8" chip to end of same handle. A tiny nick to reverse end of opposite handle. H 13 3/4".
