Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, Stenciled "HAMILTON / & / JONES. / GREENSBORO. / PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with freehand stripes and vining and a large stenciled Hamilton & Jones. signature. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 3" loss to rim on reverse, adjacent to a small rim chip. A 1 1/2" rim chip on front. A small chip to one handle. Surface wear. H 15 3/4"
