Very Rare Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Stamped "J. WEAVER," Beaver, PA, circa 1865, large-sized, ovoid jug with featuring the large cobalt-script advertising, "James Mills / Pittsburgh Pa," applied over a slip-coated surface. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional size and rare use of freehand writing. One spout chip. A 2 1/4" scratch to front. A tight spider crack to reverse. Additional surface crazing. A 7" x 2" in-the-firing loss to bottom edge on front, which is partially glazed-over. H 19".
