One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed design of a leafy stem bearing a "spitting tulip" and two smaller tulips. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Very nice condition with some staining and residue to surface, a minor glazed-over chip to interior of spout, and a small in-the-firing iron ping and narrow in-the-firing surface chip, both near base on front. H 11".
