Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "SEYMOUR & BOSWORTH / HARTFORD.CONN," circa 1875, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a large bird with spotted breast, perched on a leaf. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Water glass staining to interior. A faint network of lines to right side of churn's front, extending onto right side of churn. A small in-the-firing ping to thigh of bird. A 3 1/2" faint vertical line to left side of churn. A 1 7/8" salt drip to base of churn on left side. Light wear to inner rim for lid. H 15".
