Exceptional Glazed Redware Jar with Bold Copper Slip Decoration, attributed to Nathaniel Seymour, West Hartford, CT, late 18th or early 19th century, cylindrical jar with flared rim and heavily-tooled shoulder, elaborately-decorated around the body with draped copper-slip brushwork under a clear lead glaze. Among the most-heavily-decorated cylindrical jars by this potter that we have seen. Rim wear. An unglazed 1 3/4" in-the-firing contact mark to body. Shallow chipping around base. A small chip to shoulder. Other minor surface wear. H 8 1/4".
