Rare Glazed Redware Jar with Bold Copper Slip Brushwork, attributed to Nathaniel Seymour, West Hartford, CT, circa 1800-1830, cylindrical jar with rounded foot and tooled rim, decorated in copper slip with a series of wide curving brush strokes, applied over a dark orange ground. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Strong decoration with outstanding color. Provenance: Dr. Raymond L. Owen Collection. Base chips. Wear to top of rim. A few small, unobtrusive glaze flakes to surface. H 9".
