Two Small-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Western PA origin, circa 1875, one stenciled "SCHAEFER & DRIEHORST. / RYE & BOURBON / WHISKIES. / 1518 MAIN STREET. / WHEELING. W. VA.," the other stenciled "HAMILTON / & / JONES / GREENSBORO / Pa." Provenance: From a fifty-year private collection. Both in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Greensboro jug with a smooth 7/8" in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder. H (of shorter jug) 9 1/4".
