Rare Southern Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Canning Jar, Stamped "J F Y," GA or AL origin, mid to late 19th century, cylindrical jar with flared rim, the surface covered in a streaky green alkaline glaze. Impressed with highly unusual script initials, "J F Y," at shoulder. A shallow chip to top of rim and minor nick to edge of rim. In-the-firing clay adhered around bottom edge, remnants of whatever the jar had been stacked on during the firing. H 8".
