Scarce Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LEWIS & GARDINER / HUNTINGTON. L I", New York State origin, circa 1827-1829, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated on the reverse with a stylized floral motif. Maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals highlighted in cobalt. Two cracks from rim on reverse, measuring 6" and 6 1/2". A 1 1/2" surface line to right side of jar's front. A 1" shallow flake to top of rim. A large in-the-firing contact mark to lower right side of jar's front. A short line to base.
