Rare Stoneware Oyster Jar, probably Thomas Commeraw, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, cylindrical jar with narrow opening designed to hold a canning lid, the surface covered in a salt glaze. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year private collection. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A few minor rim chips. Two minor chips to bottom edge and a minor, glazed-over base chip. H 6 3/8".
