Very Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Applied Double Cornucopia Decoration, Stamped "THOMPSON & CO. / GARDINER," Maine origin, circa 1840, small-sized ovoid cooler with heavily-tooled shoulder, flared rim, ribbed lug handles, and octagonal bung hole. Front decorated with a very unusual molded and applied design of two flowering cornucopias within an oval cartouche. Cobalt highlights to applied decoration, bung hole, and handle terminals. Excellent condition with a minor, in-the-firing chip to underside of bung hole. H 11".
