Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY / N.Y. / POTTERY," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Spots of staining to surface. Small rim chips. A faint 6" line to underside, not visible on interior. A small in-the-firing ping to shoulder on front and reverse, which is glazed over. A tiny nick to one handle.
