Scarce One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HUDSON POTTERY CO. / HUDSON, N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Slip-trailed "1 1/2" above. Unusual maker's mark. Staining to surface. Some minor wear to decoration. A small spout chip on reverse and a very minor in-the-firing ping to side of spout. A small base chip to reverse.
