Four-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON & SON / BENNINGTON," VT origin, circa 1835, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a flower with graduated leaves and circular blossom. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 1 3/8" glazed-over iron ping to reverse. A long curved crack on reverse, which forms a tighter Y-shaped crack on underside. A 2 1/4" in-the-firing contact mark below decoration.
