Rare One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Two-Sided Stenciled Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "JOHN O'CONNOR. / WHOLESALE / LIQUOR DEALER. / 1814 CARSON AVE / PITTSBURGH. PA." Reverse with highly unusual stenciled medallion, inscribed "GOLDEN WEDDING / RYE WHISKEY". Handle broken into pieces and reglued. A 1 1/4" filled chip on reverse. Two tiny chips to edge of tooled line on spout.
