Rare Five-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn with Stenciled Eagle Motif, Stenciled "CATLETTSBURG, / POTTERY. CO.," John Dillon, J.W. Dillon, and Thomas Marr, Catlettsburg, KY, circa 1885, cylindrical churn with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stenciled design of a Federal eagle surrounded by the stenciled words, "CATLETTSBURG. / POTTERY. CO." Large stenciled "5" within border above. A thin 3 1/4" crack from rim on front. A 4 3/4"crack from rim on reverse. A small chip and a few minor nicks to interior of rim. Tight lines to base area. A long in-the-firing separation to interior near base, visible on interior only. Wear to interior base from use.
