Two-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Pottersville, Edgefield District, SC origin, possibly Dave, circa 1825, highly-ovoid jar with arched tab handles and semi-rounded rim, the surface covered pale greenish alkaline glaze accented with lighter spotting. Two slash marks at base. A tight spider crack extending from rim to shoulder area on one side. Chips to one handle. A 1 1/2" rim chip on side of jar. A 1 1/4" base chip with a short horizontal crack extending horizontally from it. Exfoliation to underside. Flakes to interior. An approximately 7" horizontal hairline near base. Some light surface wear.
