Six-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Pottersville, Edgefield District, SC, possibly Dave, circa 1825, highly-ovoid jar with raised lug handles, the surface covered in a double-dipped alkaline glaze featuring heavy olive-colored runs at the shoulder over a green ground. Six incised punctates to shoulder. Two slash marks at base. Desirable size with excellent glaze. Heavy in-the-firing chipping to base, including a 4 1/4" loss to base. A few additional base chips. A 2 1/8" chip to rim above one handle. H 15 1/2".
