Very Rare Stoneware Jug with Eastern Shore of Maryland Advertising, attributed to Peter Herrmann, Baltimore, MD, circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted advertising, "FROM E S JOHNSON / DEALER IN DRY GOODS / GROCERIES&C / EAST NEW MARKET / MD." East New Market is a small town located six miles from Cambridge, Maryland, in Dorchester County on the state's Eastern Shore. Excellent condition with a few smooth, unglazed in-the-firing contact marks to surface, a shallow 5/8" chip to underside, and a tiny chip to molding at base of spout. H 9 3/4".
