Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Bird-and-Floral Decoration, possibly KY or Shenandoah Valley of VA origin, circa 1845, ovoid pitcher with short collar, decorated with a brushed design of a crested bird perched on the stem of a flowering plant. The flower is formed from the pitcher's one-gallon stamped capacity mark, surrounded by a series of cobalt spots. Brushed cobalt highlights to spout and handle terminals.
