Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration, Stamped "SATTERLEE & MORY / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1865, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed, crested birds, each perched on a leaf. Light cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Few double bird decorations are known on pieces of this small-sized capacity. Large section of spout broken into two pieces and reglued, including a very small filled chip to right side of spout. Two spout chips. A horizontal hairline to handle. Some bubbling to cobalt.
