Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "TYLER & CO. / TROY NY.," mid 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a spotted bird perched on a scrolled branch, flanked by scrolled vines. This motif is more commonly seen on pieces bearing the mark of Troy, New York, potter, Israel Seymour. A 4 1/2" hairline from rim to right of decoration. A chip and minor contact mark to left handle. A minor in-the-firing ping to right of bird. A minor in-the-firing contact mark to base.
