One-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled rim, decorated on the front with a large brushed tulip featuring a crossed stem. Small foliate motif to spout, above the Cowden & Wilcox maker's mark. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Several, mostly small rim chips. A few very small spout chips.
