One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LEWIS JONES / PITTSTON PA," circa 1890, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, wood-and-wire bail handle, and applied clay handle at base on reverse, decorated on the reverse with a large brushed floral motif featuring a graduated blossom. Cobalt highlights to base of spout, applied clay ears, maker's mark and capacity mark. Shallow chipping to tip of spout, a chip to handle at base on reverse, some drips of Albany slip glaze to reverse base area.
