One-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a daisy flanked by foliate devices. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Two thin cracks extending from rim to shoulder on front. An in-the-making 1 1/2" rim chip on reverse, which is glazed over and includes a faint, approximately 3 1/2" hairline extending through it from rim. A longer, diagonal crack from rim on reverse.
