Very Rare Glazed Redware Sugar Bowl with Copper and White Slip Decoration, probably Hagerstown, MD, early 19th century, ovoid form with footed base, inset rim, and applied vertical handles, the exterior surface covered in manganese slip and decorated with white and copper slip swags. Interior surface coated in cream-colored slip. Entire surface coated in a clear lead glaze. Wear to molding at base of rim. A small, in-the-firing contact mark to one handle. Very minor wear to handles. A tiny lime ping to side of bowl. H 2 3/4" ; Diam. (across top) 3 7/8".
