Unusual Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Alkaline Glaze, attributed to Lewis Miles Stony Bluff Manufactory, Horse Creek Valley, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1860, ovoid jar with flared rim and footed base, the surface covered in a mottled-brown alkaline glaze with greenish areas to rim and shoulder. Base impressed with a horseshoe stamp, indicating its manufacture at the Stony Bluff Manufactory. Desirable size. Excellent condition with some shallow chipping to base and a minor rim nick. H 7 1/2".
