Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, highly-ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a large flowering plant bearing an alternating design of a spitting tulips, vines or pussy willows, and flower buds. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a minor in-the-firing contact mark to side of jug and a minuscule nick to spout.
