Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Bird Motif, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO. PA..," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with semi-squared rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a flying bird below arched maker's stenciling. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Stenciled "2" with flourishes at base. Excellent condition with a minor nick to bottom edge of rim on front and two minor nicks to interior of rim. Some faintness to stenciling.
