Five-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. WEAVER," Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, semi-ovoid jar with incised banding to body, tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed design of a flowering plant, applied over slip-coated clay. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark and handle terminals. A chip to one handle. A brown glaze drip to reverse. Spider lines to base area, extending onto underside. A minor chip to interior of rim and a tiny nick to inner rim for lid.
