Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Floral Decoration, attributed to the Thompson Pottery, Morgantown, WV, circa 1870, cylindrical jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and ribbed handles, decorated with a flowering vine across the shoulder, two large foliate motifs below, and freehand "6" at base, all separated by a series of stripes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Significant restoration to base and underside, including some touch-up to cobalt at base on front and an unrestored crack at base on front.
