Six-Gallon Stoneware Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, OH origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug form with applied handles and squared bunghole with canted corners, decorated with a double-stemmed flowering plant motif. Freehand cobalt "6" above. Handles decorated with X-shaped brushwork and highlights to the terminals. Cobalt highlight surrounding bunghole. Includes wooden spigot. Significant restoration to bunghole. This restoration has become damaged, revealing a chipped whitish restoration material to the base of the bunghole. A faint 1 1/2" line to spout. Some short, minor in-the-firing lines to base area. H 19".
