Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jug with tooling to shoulder and spout, featuring the stenciled advertising, "RICHARDSON, GOODWIN / & CO. / WHOLESALE / DRUGGISTS. / 1222 MAIN ST. / WHEELING. W. VA.," flanked by stenciled tulips. Cobalt straight and wavy stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with stenciled "2" flanked by foliate devices. Cobalt highlights to upper handle terminal. Very nice condition with only minor flaws. In-the-firing slump to shoulder. A smooth in-the-firing contact mark to reverse. A 1 1/2" vertical line to base. Minor spout wear. Two minor chips to underside at edge.
