Rare Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double-Grapes Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with an undulating vine bearing two bunches of eight grapes, three leaves, and two corkscrewing tendrils. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Excellent condition with a small spout chip and some faint crazing around base area.
