One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Federal Eagle Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with a stenciled design of a spread-winged Federal eagle with shield across its chest, clutching an olive branch and arrows. Elaborate freehand straight and wavy stripe decoration above and below. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing saltiness to cobalt.
