Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "J Mc/ Kenzie / Beaver / Co," Jonathan McKenzie, Vanport, Beaver County, PA origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large brushed floral motif and cobalt highlights to the handle terminals. Side of jar inscribed in cobalt script with Jonathan McKenzie signature, followed by the county of origin, "Beaver Co," and another word beginning with the letter, "J". Western Pennsylvania stoneware pieces hand-signed in this manner are considered rare. Some fry to cobalt. A tight vertical line to right side of jar, partially visible on interior. A stained to left side of jar.
