Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Wheeling, WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "HORKHEIMER BRO'S. / DISTILLERS & IMPORTERS / OF WINES / BRANDIES, / WHISKIES & GIN. / 1152 WATER ST. 1,3 & 5 12th ST / WHEELING. W. VA." Freehand wavy and straight stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Stenciled "2" flanked by foliate devices at base. Cobalt highlight to upper handle terminal. A chip to top and side of spout. Chip to spout molding on reverse. Two in-the-firing surface chips to shoulder.
