Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Pruntytown, WV origin, circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, decorated with a brushed design of a leafy vine bearing four blossoms composed of circular strokes. Freehand "2" flanked by dashes at shoulder. Wavy stripe decoration below rim. A well-decorated example featuring strong color. Excellent condition with a minor chip to interior of rim and a short line to rim area.
