Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & / JONES, / GREENSBORO, / PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, featuring large Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling surrounded by stenciled leaves. Base with stenciled "6" flanked by foliate devices. Large in-the-firing loss along edge of one handle. Opposite handle with some chips to front terminal. Some wear to cobalt. A minor, in-the-making dent to base on reverse, which is glazed over.
